“Wow, where did you buy that?” – “Oh, this? Thanks, I made it myself!”
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Few things in life feel as good as being able to say those magic words when someone at a baby shower or birthday party admires your handmade gift. 😉🥳
Because let’s be real—handmade gifts just feel more special. Both for the person giving them and the one receiving them. 🥰 There’s something extra meaningful about wrapping up a present you’ve poured love, time, and (let’s face it 🫣) a whole lot of determination into.
So if you want to wow the parents-to-be (and maybe even the whole guest list) at the next baby celebration you attend, here are four of my go-to handmade gifts that have become favorites of mine to give away as gifts:
-
Snuttis the Snuggle Bunny. Once you get the hang of the different parts of this pattern, the final result is a total heirloom piece! It’s such a heartfelt gift, and next time I make one, I’m planning to embroider the baby’s name on the ear or hem to make it even more special. 🥰
-
Leklöv the Leaf Shaped Play Mat. This one makes an impact simply because of its size! But don’t let that intimidate you—it’s actually not that difficult to sew, just a bit bulky to handle. And I can tell you that every single person who has received or sewn one has used it A LOT.
-
Mjukisklossar the Soft Blocks. These check all the boxes for a great baby gift:
✔️ Super soft and cuddly
✔️ Beautiful addition to the nursery
✔️ Actually fun to play with
✔️ Easy to personalize for the baby
Yep—total winners!
-
Badis the Hooded Bath Towel. An absolute classic that I never get tired of gifting. It’s stylish, incredibly practical, and surprisingly quick to sew once you get the hang of those mitered corners. If you’re ever unsure what to make—just go for a Badis!
So if you’ve got a baby shower or other baby celebration coming up, I hope this list gave you some inspiration for a handmade gift! And if you do end up making one of these, I’d love to hear how it was received. 😍
Happy Sewing!
