Nesting, waiting, daydreaming about baby—that whole pre-birth season is honestly one of my favorite things in the world.
Who’s hiding in there, really? What will life look like when we’re suddenly one person more? And what do you even need to have ready when the moment finally arrives?
There are so many questions—especially when you’re doing it all for the first time.
For me, getting ready for baby became a way to ground myself. Sewing, knitting, making things with my own two hands while picturing our little one using them someday... oh, it was just the sweetest. 🥹
And now, looking back with a bit of that magical hindsight, there are a few things I’m especially glad I had prepped in advance.
So if you’re in nesting mode and itching to get creative, here are my best tried-and-tested tips on baby items you won’t regret having finished before your little bundle arrives:
- Babynest. The MVP of baby gear. We used it in the crib, on the couch, on the floor, in our bed—basically everywhere. We even packed it for trips, so no matter where we were, our baby could sleep in her cozy little “home base.” Total win.
- Leklöv - The Leaf Shaped Play Mat. The snuggliest little leaf you ever did see. Great for under the baby gym or as a soft “tummy time” mat. Bonus points for being adorable.
- Badis the Hooded Baby Towel. The cuddliest baby bath towel with a hood and bear ears. Perfect for wrapping a freshly bathed baby in, and so cozy that I almost wanted one in adult size.
- Dreglis Bibs. LOTS of them. Great for those early days if your baby spits up a lot, and absolute lifesavers once the drool-fest of teething begins. Trust me, it’s way easier to swap a bib than an entire outfit every time the floodgates open. (Been there. Soaked that.)
- Prylis the Crib Pocket. If there’s one thing that sums up the baby stage, it’s sleep deprivation, right? Which is why this little organizer was everything. It hangs on the side of the crib and holds all the must-haves for nighttime parenting: cloths, pacifiers, wipes, diapers—you name it. Because let’s face it, the last thing you want at 3AM is to go digging for a missing pacifier.
